What is TRIJNTJE?
TRIJNTJE is an online web tool. TRIJNTJE gives an insight in water-retaining capacity at your parcels. The tool calculates a soil score (good-moderate-poor), based on soil maps and online data.
The app provides you with information about the organic matter content, the infiltration, drainage and possible compaction of the subsoil on your plot.
TRIJNTJE then recommends various measures. If you follow the measures, the bottom score will change.
Why TRIJNTJE?
TRIJNTJE provides an insight into the water-retaining capacity of your plots and factors that influence this. Do adjustments and see the results on your fields.
TRIJNTJE can help you decide how much organic matter to apply in the coming years for example, and whether it is wise to grow green manure.
Who can use TRIJNTJE?
TRIJNTJE is suitable for arable farmers on clay in the northern part of The Netherlands, who would like to work on increasing the water storage capacity on their plots.
How does TRIJNTJE work?
1. Log in via farmmaps.nl. Select the field you want to work with.
2. View the score of the relevant plot. By clicking further you will see different factors with corresponding scores.
3. Select measures for each factor and calculate what the effect would be on the water storage capacity.
4. Find more background information via the 'information' buttons.
